Details:

Date: September 21, 2024
Start Time: 12:00pm
End Time: 3:00/4:00pm – or whenever you feel like leaving
Location: Eric & Athena’s House * 821 Pulley Dr. Madison, WI 53714

Stay as little or as long as you’d like! Our goal is to have this be a casual gathering to celebrate our new little dude on the way. We’ll have food and drinks, hopefully a onesie doodle and tie-dying station (please feel free to bring some blank white onesies for yourself or to share), a 50/50 “kiddie” pool, and an overall good time.

Our house is immediately adjacent to Sycamore Park in Madison, which has a playground and some brand-spankin’ new mountain bike trails (bring a bike or borrow one of ours?). We’re hoping for good weather! Rain date/location TBD

Athena’s Communal Art Project for Baby G:

Athena has aspirations to create a piece of art that incorporates messages of welcoming and love from friends and family. Attendees (or loved ones afar) can participate by writing a short message or note for our little guy on sheets of colored paper that we’ll have available at the party. Athena will later weave these together into a sort of paper tapestry. She doesn’t have all the logistics for this vision figured out yet, but hopefully she will by September.

50/50 “Kiddie” Pool

We’ll also have an optional 50/50 fundraiser to keep the fun going well after the picnic. To enter the pool, you’ll guess the due date and a few other variables. Entry tickets are $10 each and you can make as many entries as you’d like to increase your odds of winning. 50% will go into a bank account for Baby G’s future enrichment – sports? interests? activities? Once the baby is born, the other 50% will go to the winning ticket holder. If multiple people have correct guesses about the baby’s arrival, the winnings will be split evenly amongst the winners.

Entries can be made in-person at the picnic on September 21st. If you are unable to attend day-of, you are welcome to submit your entries via the Google Form linked below:

Registry of Baby Needs/Wishes

We’ve created our own registry for needed items & we’ve also registered at Target. You can find both registries below!

Registry #1: Salzer Gertner Baby Registry 🥕

Registry #2Target

Regardless, we absolutely love 2nd hand and gently used items. There is already too much “stuff” in the world and babies grow so quickly. But also, please don’t feel obligated to bring a gift.

Note: We will have a gift table and card box, but we don’t plan to open gifts at the picnic. However, if you are bringing something special or just want us to open your gift while you’re here, we would love to open it with you! Just let us know! Also, feel free to go minimal on the wrapping paper, or don’t wrap it at all!

Other fun tidbits of information:

What’s with the carrots on the invitation?

When Athena and Eric first started dating in 2014, one of Eric’s earlier texts attempting to hang out was something along the lines of, “Do you want to bury ourselves in the backyard and pretend to be carrots?” Athena thought this was absolutely adorable and hilarious (because it was) and since then carrots have been kind of a wonderful ongoing symbol of us and our relationship.
